Op Nederlands grondgebied bevinden zich nog zo’n 6.000 vermiste militairen en burgers uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Defensie is nog dagelijks bezig deze stoffelijke resten op te sporen en te identificeren. Vooral het laatste is ondanks moderne identificatiemiddelen zoals DNA nog steeds een enorme uitdaging. Men moet 100% zeker zijn voordat men er een naam aanhangt.
Toch zijn er al tientallen personen geïdentificeerd door archiefonderzoek. Daarom deze lijst van vermiste militairen.
